I purchased this adapter to connect my laptop which does not have a RJ45 port to my internet router via a RJ45 Cat5e cable to overcome the poor connection issues which I was experiencing when using a wireless conection. Set up was truly plug-and-play, all I needed to do was to plug the adaptor and the cable in. Model contract vanzare cumparare. Once the ethernet (cable) connection is established it becomes the default connection to access the internet, even if the wireless connection is still available.
Although my only reason to purchase this adapter was to overcome the stability issues of my wireless connection, as an added benefit my internet browising appears to be considerably faster over the new ethernet connection. Product appears to be of good quality and it does what it. This is a fantastic piece of kit for the price. I bought it as I have recently started to use a chromebook at work and while these are great devices the performance was being hindered by the limitation of Wifi only, so I wanted to add ethernet capability. The fact it also gives me an extra two USB3 ports is just an added bonus for the price. Only reason I give it 4 stars (would give it 4.5 if I could) is that the connecting cable is very rigid so it the body of the hub doesn't sit flat on my desk but its a really minor niggle. It's hard to decide how to rate a simple device with a specific job, however I decided to give it a 5 star rating for the following reasons: Pro's Does exactly what it's meant to do (once set up) Easy to use - plug in and play Con's Couldn't get it to work on my MacBook Pro, until I emailed the seller and they provided me with a link to download the Mac drivers (there is a driver CD that comes in the pack but it only contains windows drivers) I was tempted to mark it down a star just for the fact that I couldn't get it to work and there appeared to be no support or help online.
I actually emailed the seller to ask for a replacement to be sent (thinking it was faulty, as it seemed to be dead)! However, once I downloaded the drivers as instructed, it worked perfectly. Came quickly and nicely packaged in small box with card to register for additional 12 month warranty on top of standard 24 months so 3 years in total. Great product to have. Wanted to have more USB ports on the laptop and mainly for the RJ45 gigabit ethernet port.
Plugged into MacBook Pro via USB and then ethernet cable to a power line network. Now transferring files at gigabit speeds to Network Drive as I type this. This adapter didn't resolve the issue unfortunately. Its an issue with audio going out of sync with any video i play after a few mins on anything and the audio popping and crackling. I believed it was caused by latency issues by my ethernet adapter built into my laptop or the driver, however this isn't the case.
